Dr. Jane Van Dyk
Dr. Jane Van Dyk grew up near Delhi and graduated from Delhi District Secondary School. In her final year she was honoured with the Delhi Junior Citizen of the Year Award. She earned her Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Waterloo and then went on to graduate on the Dean's Honour List from Waterloo's School of Optometry. During her clincal training, she did an externship focused on ocular disease and treatment in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dr. Jane Van Dyk is a proud member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She is a member of the Haldimand-Norfolk Diabetes Advisory Council and participates annually in the World Diabetes Day Educational Event to promote the importance of routine eye exams for those living with diabetes. She also volunteers with the Fair Start Program to educate parents on the importance of eye exams before and during school to diagnose vision problems that may hinder learning.
Dr. Jane Van Dyk's life is centered in Norfolk as much of her immediate and extended family live here. Family time is spent boating and at the cottage in Turkey Point with her husband, Peter, and two daughters, Kaitlyn and Mya.
Dr. Matthew Craig
Dr. Matthew Craig was born and raised in Simcoe. His father, Michael, was a principal and his mother, Susan, a teacher in the local separate school board. He attended St. Joseph's School and Simcoe Composite School. He studied sciences at the University of Western Ontario before being accepted into the optometry program at the University of Waterloo. As part of his studies, he completed an ocular health externship at Houston Eye Associates in Houston, Texas. He graduated from optometry school on the Dean's Honour List in 1996. Upon graduation he received the Vistakon Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care award. Dr. Craig has experience working throughout Canada. He spent time working in Vernon, B.C. and, for five years, did northern locum work in Thompson, Manitoba.
He now resides in Port Dover and is proud to serve Norfolk with a top quality eye care experience.
Dr. Katie Ryan
Dr. Katie Ryan grew up in Ancaster, Ontario. She attended the University of Waterloo and graduated on the Dean’s Honours List for both her Bachelor of Science (Honours Biomedical Science) and Doctor of Optometry degrees. Her ocular disease externship was in a tertiary care centre that focussed on the management of glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal disease (such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration). She currently lives in Paris with her husband, Robert. They enjoy running half marathons and training together. Dr. Ryan takes part in Norfolk County community education events such as the annual Wellness Fair, Women in Business, and presentations for the Haldimand Norfolk Diabetes Program and Multiple Sclerosis Society. She sees patients of all ages: from infants to seniors. She truly enjoys improving the vision of the people of Norfolk County through personalized treatments such as new prescription glasses, cutting edge contact lenses, laser eye surgery referrals, or ocular disease management. She focuses on patient communication to maintain healthy eyes and prevent eye disease. She is currently accepting new patients in the Port Dover and Simcoe locations.
Dr. Janki Kapadia
Janki Kapadia grew up in Toronto and moved to Simcoe at an early age. She graduated from Simcoe Composite school with highest academic achievement and then went on to graduate from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology. She completed her Doctor of Optometry from The University of Waterloo on the Dean's Honour list in June 2017. During her time at university, she participated in an eyecare mission trip to rural India where she performed vision testing for underprivileged populations and was an active member of the university's Sports Vision club. She did an ocular disease externship at the Veterans Hospital in Detroit, Michigan focusing on the management of glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disease and emergency care.
Janki completed her primary care externship here at Norfolk Family Eye Care. She is happy to be back in Norfolk County to provide vision care in her community. She currently lives in Simcoe and is accepting new patients in both Simcoe and Port Dover locations starting August 29, 2017
